Chia, the seed of South American herb Salvia hispanica, has been hailed as a highly valuable food for many centuries. It is believed to have been one of the staples of the Aztec diet, and today remains a core part of local cuisine in its native growing areas.


Chia seed provides abundant Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, in an optimum ratio. It also boasts an affluent nutritional profile with approximately 20% protein, and more 
Omega-3
fatty acids than any other plant including flax seeds. Chia is a versatile food, neutral in flavour and boasting vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It can be added to a variety of cooked or raw dishes and helps dieters feel full, as it absorbs water once ingested.

The Production

Our Chia Seeds are carefully extracted from the salvia hispanica and selected for the highest quality. These are cleaned in natural water and packaged in their raw state. The growing season is five months long, during this time the full nutritional value of the seeds can develop. The Chia is then harvested by machine, the seeds are cleaned in natural water and are then inspected carefully to remove any stalk material and packaged in their raw state.
